Notes from the PCC Meeting held on 16 Feb 10

1. Memorial Garden Stelae. The first two stelae are now installed . Neil Morton was thanked for his inspirational work. The stelae will provide a lasting memorial to loved ones.

2. Lavant Churches Website - discussion. All agreed that the new website was excellent and thought that booking on line would be easier. Articles written about members of the congregation would be interesting to add to the web site. Richard Ryder to be asked if he would give more tuition regarding access for articles etc.

3. Lavant Lunch House Report. Cynthia Blades report had been circulated. The January Lunch House had to be cancelled due to the snow. It would be helpful to make some alterations to the kitchen moving some overhead cupboards and creating a work surface. Investigations into feasibility and cost to be made

4.Lavant Luncheon Club Annual Report. Jenny Wiseman's report had been circulated. 3 new volunteers have come forward to help as a result of an appeal last year. The summer outing was on Chichester Canal and in December a pantomime trip was arranged to Bognor.The Fete Committee's grant helps financially and another local charity has offered financial help

5. Healing Ministry Report. Karen Eggleston reported on the up-to-date situation. She and 3 other members of the Group have attended courses at Crowhurst Healing Centre. Karen has completed training with the "Healing-on-the-Streets Team. The group involved in planning the Healing Ministry has visited other Churches ,and the Cathedral, that hold Healing Services. Discussion ensued regarding the best time to hold such Services in Lavant. The PCC asked to consider and report back.
Various leaflets and books have been purchased. The books will be added to the library at St Mary's.

6. Treasurer's Report and Draft Budget 2010. Copies of the Annual Report and Accounts had been circulated. The Independent Examiner has completed perusal of the accounts. Because of some adjustments to the accounts the PCC was asked to pass a fresh resolution. The PCC RESOLVED to approve the amended accounts for 2009
The Draft Budget showed a downward trend in donors/donations not surprisingly given the recession. The cost of St Mary's Lighting not included as this will be met from the Legacies Fund and donations. There will be an estimated deficit of £3400. The PCC RESOLVED to approve the Draft Budget for 2010 .

7. Churchwardens Report. Tina Saunders gave a verbal report. The Faculty for the Lighting at St Mary's has been received. St Mary's will be closed for 3 weeks after Easter to enable the contractors to work undisturbed.
The Parish AwayDay will be at Lavant House School on Saturday 17th April. The topic will be "Wholeness and Prayer". The session (morning only) will culminate in a late lunch.

8. Arrangements for the APCM on 23rd March 10. This will take place in St Nicholas' Church.at 7.30 pm. Both Churchwardens have indicated they will continue to stand. There is a vacancy on the PCC. Reports to be given at the APCM to include the Healing Ministry, Good Neighbours Scheme and the Home Groups.

9. Any Other Business.
Church Cleaning at St Nicholas'. A spring cleaning session will take place on Saturday 27th March.

Harvest Distribution The Good Neighbours Scheme will hold a meeting in July to discuss the best way of distributing Harvest Gifts after this year's Festival

Communion Cruets. These are damaged and needed replacement. The PCC AGREED to replacing these items from the Legacy Fund.
